Your Primary Role and Responsibilities
- Acting as lead paralegal with docket and case management responsibilities
- Preparing and drafting legal documents, including pleadings, discovery, correspondence, transactional documents, spreadsheets, and numerous other legal documents
- Preparing trial and hearing notebooks
- Document review and summary
- Provide direct assistance to the attorney for hearings and mediations
- Appear in person for hearings and mediation
- Filing documents electronically with the court, property records, and/or other locations
- Overseeing and monitoring calendar activity and tracking deadlines on all case matters
- Telephone and in-person contact with clients, court personnel, attorneys, and other legal professionals
- Screen potential new clients and manage conflicts
- Keeping track of case status and tasks for the team and follow up for completion
- Maintain and organize client files
- Manage and oversee litigation assistants
- Conduct legal research
Traits and Skills We Are Looking For
- Strong work ethic and desire to work
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong writing skills and excellent proof-reading skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and follow up on tasks
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Typing 60 words per minute or more with a high accuracy rate
- Experience using Microsoft Windows and Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams, eFiling software, Adobe and Zoom
- Experience with Centerbase is highly preferred
- At least five years of family law paralegal experience
- Board Certification from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization is highly desired
