Legal separation

Sometimes, clients seek to determine short-term financial and custodial arrangements prior to filing for divorce. Others seek legal separation because it might be easier for their children. Some individuals do not believe in divorce at all for religious or moral reasons. In addition, legal separation can provide couples the space they need to reconcile their differences and resume their marriage or, conversely, reinforce their desire to begin divorce proceeding. Bollier Ciccone LLP works with clients to understand the differences between a legal separation and divorce, as well as assists in determining which course of action will best meets our client’s immediate needs. Our lawyers are fluent in creating and filing legal separation agreements and in obtaining required court approval.

Annulment

For some clients, often for religious reasons, a legal divorce is not necessarily the end of a marriage. Some individuals desire to have the marriage annulled. As well as an intensely personal process, an annulment can be a challenging endeavor. Under select circumstances, Bollier Ciccone, LLP works with such clients to have their marriage annulled by establishing the union was entered into fraudulently under mental incapacity or the inability to consent. Where appropriate, we assist clients in working with their religious institution to nullify the union. Although we do not provide legal counsel on religious matters, we are retained to advocate our client’s distinct goals in ascertaining an annulment.
